JAMES 2 : 22 ~ 26
JAMES 2 : 22 ~ 26
NIV:
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
And the scripture was fulfulled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.
You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostiture considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
CEV:
Now you see how Abraham's faith and deeds worked together. He proved that his faith was real by what he did.
This is what the Scriptures mean by saying, "Abraham had faith in God, and God was pleased with him." That's how Abraham became God's friend.
You can now see that we please God by what we do and not only by what we believe.
For example, Rahab had been a prostitute. But she pleased God when she welcomed the spies and sent them home by another way.
Anyone who doesn't breathe is dead, and faith that doesn't do anything is just as dead!
