마태복음 4장
예수께서 시험을 받으시다(막 1:12-13; 눅 4:1-13)
1 그 즈음에 예수께서 성령에 이끌려 광야로 가셔서, 악마에게 시험을 받으셨다.
2 예수께서 밤낮 사십 일을 금식하시니, 시장하셨다.
3 그런데 시험하는 자가 와서, 예수께 말하였다. "네가 하나님의 아들이거든, 이 돌들에게 빵이 되라고 말해 보아라."
4 예수께서 대답하셨다. "성경에 기록하기를 1)'사람이 빵으로만 살 것이 아니라, 하나님의 입에서 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살 것이다' 하였다."
5 그 때에 악마는 예수를 그 거룩한 도성으로 데리고 가서, 성전 꼭대기에 세우고
6 말하였다. "네가 하나님의 아들이거든, 여기에서 뛰어내려 보아라. 성경에 기록하기를 2)'하나님이 너를 위하여 자기 천사들에게 명하실 것이다' 그리고 '그들이 손으로 너를 떠받쳐서, 너의 발이 돌에 부딪치지 않게 할 것이다' 하였다."
7 예수께서 악마에게 말씀하셨다. "또 성경에 기록하기를 3)'주 너의 하나님을 시험하지 말아라' 하였다."
8 또다시 악마는 예수를 매우 높은 산으로 데리고 가서, 세상의 모든 나라와 그 영광을 보여주고 말하였다.
9 "네가 나에게 엎드려서 절을 하면, 이 모든 것을 네게 주겠다."
10 그 때에 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "사탄아, 물러가라. 성경에 기록하기를 4)'주 너의 하나님께 경배하고, 그분만을 섬겨라' 하였다."
11 이 때에 악마는 떠나가고, 천사들이 와서, 예수께 시중을 들었다.
예수께서 갈릴리에서 복음을 선포하기 시작하시다(막 1:14-15; 눅 4:14-15)
12 예수께서, 요한이 잡혔다고 하는 말을 들으시고, 갈릴리로 돌아가셨다.
13 그리고 그는 나사렛을 떠나, 스불론과 납달리 지역 바닷가에 있는 가버나움으로 가서 사셨다.
14 이것은 예언자 이사야를 시켜서 하신 말씀을 이루시려는 것이었다.
15 "스불론과 납달리 땅, 요단 강 건너편, 바다로 가는 길목, 이방 사람들의 갈릴리,
16 어둠에 앉아 있는 백성이 큰 빛을 보았고, 그늘진 죽음의 땅에 앉은 사람들에게 빛이 비치었다."
17 그 때부터 예수께서는 "회개하여라. 하늘 나라가 가까이 왔다" 하고 선포하기 시작하셨다.
어부들을 부르시다(막 1:16-20; 눅 5:1-11)
18 예수께서 갈릴리 바닷가를 걸어가시다가, 두 형제, 베드로라는 시몬과 그와 형제간인 안드레가 그물을 던지고 있는 것을 보셨다. 그들은 어부였다.
19 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "나를 따라오너라. 나는 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부로 삼겠다."
20 그들은 곧 그물을 버리고 예수를 따라갔다.
21 거기에서 조금 더 가시다가, 예수께서 다른 두 형제 곧 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그의 6)동생 요한을 보셨다. 그들은 아버지 세베대와 함께 배에서 그물을 깁고 있었다. 예수께서 그들을 부르셨다.
22 그들은 곧 배와 자기들의 아버지를 놓아두고, 예수를 따라갔다.
무리에게 복음을 전하시다(눅 6:17-19)
3 예수께서 온 갈릴리를 두루 다니시면서, 그들의 회당에서 가르치며, 하늘 나라의 8)복음을 선포하며, 백성 가운데서 모든 질병과 아픔을 고쳐 주셨다.
24 예수의 소문이 온 시리아에 퍼졌다. 그리하여 사람들이, 갖가지 질병과 고통으로 앓는 모든 환자들과 귀신 들린 사람들과 간질병 환자들과 중풍병 환자들을 예수께로 데리고 왔다. 예수께서는 그들을 고쳐 주셨다.
25 그리하여 갈릴리와 9)데가볼리와 예루살렘과 유대와 요단 강 건너편으로부터, 많은 무리가 예수를 따라왔다.

Jesus and the Devil (Mark 1.12,13; Luke 4.1-13)
1 The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, so that the devil could test him.
2 After Jesus had gone without eating l) for forty days and nights, he was very hungry.
3 Then the devil came to him and said, "If you are God's Son, tell these stones to turn into bread."
4 Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 〈No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.〉 "
5 Next, the devil took Jesus to the holy city and had him stand on the highest part of the temple.
6 The devil said, "If you are God's Son, jump off. The Scriptures say: 〈God will give his angels orders about you. They will catch you in their arms, and you won't hurt your feet on the stones.〉 "
7 Jesus answered, "The Scriptures also say, 〈Don't try to test the Lord your God!〉 "
8 Finally, the devil took Jesus up on a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms on earth and their power.
9 The devil said to him, "I will give all this to you, if you will bow down and worship me."
10 Jesus answered, "Go away Satan! The Scriptures say: 〈Worship the Lord your God and serve only him.〉 "
11 Then the devil left Jesus, and angels came to help him.
Jesus Begins His Work (Mark 1.14,15; Luke 4.14,15)
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went to Galilee.
13 But instead of staying in Nazareth, Jesus moved to Capernaum. This town was beside Lake Galilee in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali. m)
14 So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said,
15 "Listen, lands of Zebulun and Naphtali, lands along the road to the sea and east of the Jordan! Listen Galilee, land of the Gentiles!
16 Although your people live in darkness, they will see a bright light. Although they live in the shadow of death, a light will shine on them."
17 Then Jesus started preaching, "Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here." n)
Jesus Chooses Four Fishermen (Mark 1.16-20; Luke 5.1-11)
18 While Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers. One was Simon, also known as Peter, and the other was Andrew. They were fishermen, and they were casting their net into the lake.
19 Jesus said to them, "Come with me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish."
20 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
21 Jesus walked on until he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus asked them to come with him too.
22 Right away they left the boat and their father and went with Jesus.
Jesus Teaches, Preaches, and Heals (Luke 6.17-19)
23 Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in the Jewish meeting places and preaching the good news about God's kingdom. He also healed every kind of disease and sickness.
24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people with every kind of sickness or disease were brought to him. Some of them had a lot of demons in them, others were thought to be crazy, o) and still others could not walk. But Jesus healed them all.
25 Large crowds followed Jesus from Galilee and the region around the ten cities known as Decapolis. p) They also came from Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan River.
