데살로니가전서 5장 1 ~ 6절

 

형제들아 때와 시기에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은

주의 날이 밤에 도적 같이 이를 줄을 너희 자신이 자세히 앎이라

저희가 평안하다, 안전하다 할 그때에 잉태된 여자에게 해산 고통이 이름과 같이 멸망이 홀연히 저희에게 이르리니 결단코 피하지 못하리라

형제들아 너희는 어두움에 있지 아니하매 그날이 도적같이 너희에게 임하지 못하리니

너희는 다 빛의 아들이요 낮의 아들이라 우리가 밤이나 어두움에 속하지 아니하나니

그러므로 우리는 다른 이들과 같이 자지 말고 오직 깨어 근심할지라

 

 

1 THESSALONIANS 5 : 1 ~ 6

NIV:

Now, Brothers, about times and dates we do no need to write to you,

For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.

 

CEV:

I don't need to write you about the time or date when all this will happen.
You surely know that the Lord's return will be as a thief coming at night. People will think they are safe and secure. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape.
My dear friends, you don't live in darkness, and so that day won't surprise you like a thief.
You belong to the light and live in the day. We don't live in the night or belong to the dark.
Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert.
